The Anne Rice Immortal Universe has been expanded with the addition of the latest book, Mayfair Witches by Anne Rice.
Fans and critics alike praised the first installment of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, which resulted in the show being revived for a second season. This new series follows in its footsteps.
The first episode of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe to be adapted for television was “Interview with the Vampire.” With the new show Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, the network is now exploring the rich mythology that surrounds Rice’s witches.
Even though Rice’s vampires and witches reside in the same city (New Orleans), their lives couldn’t be more different from one another. The history of the Mayfair witches can be traced all the way back to Scotland and extends back 13 generations.
However, their past is tainted by a sinister legacy that continues to cause problems for the family even today.
Rowan Mayfair, a neurosurgeon, begins searching for answers from her biological family after coming to the horrifying realization that she possesses a terrifying power. However, she is unaware of the mysteries that lie in store for her.
Mayfair Witches: Plot Synopsis
Adapted from the first book in Anne Rice’s Witches trilogy, Mayfair Witches will center on Rowan, a young neurosurgeon living in California. Rowan is the protagonist of the original novel.
Rowan finds out, to to her horror, that she is the new heiress of a particular prominent family in the Mayfair after the recent death of her estranged mother, Deirdre. This news comes shortly after Rowan learned that her mother had passed away.
As she learns more about her heritage and the history of her family, she comes to the realization that she, too, possesses certain abilities.
Rowan must contend with a malevolent spirit that has been a part of their family for many years and has tormented them in addition to dealing with the challenges posed by her newly discovered abilities and her efforts to adjust to her new identity.
From this point forward, if the series is given the green light for more seasons, then upcoming episodes may incorporate the other two volumes that are part of the novel series.
Mayfair Witches: Filming Locations
The upcoming television series Mayfair Witches on AMC was filmed in Louisiana’s New Orleans. Prytania Street serves as the major location for filming the Mayfair Witches series.
The famous author Anne Rice was born and raised in New Orleans. The author’s antebellum estate, upon which the events of the first novel, “The Witching Hour,” are based, can be found in this city as well.
Esta Spalding, who was in charge of running the show, revealed that filming for the first season was completed in the early part of September 2022.
Deadline reported in December 2021 that AMC had awarded an eight-episode series order to another Anne horror and vampire series, Interview with the Vampire, which was already in production at the network.
The rights to Anne’s works were purchased by AMC Networks in the year 2020. These rights covered a total of 18 titles, such as the new show and the Vampire Chronicles series. Mark Johnson, who was also under contract with AMC Studios, served as the show’s producer.
In April of 2022, production on the fantasy drama series officially got under way. On Monday, April 25, the production kicked off, and it was scheduled to wrap up on August 22. Fans are going to get the most out of the remarkable scenes that take place in the scary and haunted home that is located on Prytania Street in New Orleans.
Nickel Boys (production end date -January 16, 2023), And (prod. end date -December 16, 2022), The Winchesters (production end date -December 15, 2022), and Your Honor Season 2 are some of the other television shows that are currently filming in New Orleans at this time period (December 16, 2022).

Mayfair Witches: Cast Members
The character of Rowan Mayfair is brought to life by Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus). Daddario, who previously appeared as a vampire in American Horror Story: Hotel, is now assuming the role of the new Mayfair Designee in the show.
Rowan may not have a lot of information about her biological family, but she is aware that something is going on and she wants to figure out what it all means.
Ciprien is a new figure added to the mythos, and iZombie’s Tongayi Chirisa portrays the role. Ciprien is an employee of the Talamasca, a charitable organization of academics that investigates alleged paranormal occurrences.
Aaron Lightener and Michael Curry, two characters who exist in the books but not in the series, have been combined to create him. He is a hybrid of the two of them. Rowan is in danger from her family, and it is his job to keep her safe.

The character of Cortland Mayfair is brought to life by Harry Hamlin (L.A. Law). Cortland Mayfair wasn’t as noticeable in The Witching Hour as his father, Julien Mayfair, but there’s no doubt that Hamlin’s interpretation of Cortland will have a bigger part to play in the series moving forward.
Lasher is a mystery spirit that has been associated with the Mayfair family for many centuries. Jack Huston, who appeared in House of Gucci, plays the role of Lasher. Rowan is the target of his attention, and he won’t stop at anything to achieve his goal until he’s succeeded in capturing her.
Carlotta, Rowan’s nefarious aunt, is portrayed by Beth Grant (Dollface). Carlotta is a meddlesome person who would do anything to achieve what she wants, and she does this despite the fact that she feels she is operating in the best interest of everyone.
Jojo Richards, daughter of Cortland, is played by Jen Richards, who plays Mrs. Fletcher. Jojo is well aware of the ways in which Carlotta interferes due to the fact that she was raised in the home that belonged to her father, and she is adamant about assisting Rowan in navigating the intricate Mayfair family circles.
Suzanne, the first Mayfair witch, is portrayed by Hannah Alline (Doom Patrol), who portrays the role.
Suzanne was a resident of Scotland many years ago. Even though she has been gone for a very long time, her legacy continues on, and viewers who have a better grasp of what happened to her will have an easier time watching Rowan work to find her place in the Mayfair family.
Mayfair Witches: WATCH TRAILER!
The freshly released official trailer for Mayfair Witches is most certainly going to make you feel like you’re watching Interview with the Vampire, despite the fact that there are no vampires or other bloodsucking undead in this movie (or are there?).
It’s probably more the gloomy, gothic mood and the narrative that’s loaded with suspense that are comparable in each of these stories. The clip gives the impression that, similar to Rice’s other works, her perspective on the lives of witches will be presented through the eyes of a clueless and inexperienced novice who will investigate the history of the Mayfair dynasty in order to learn her true identity.
This will be the case, as the clip suggests, with Rice’s other stories as well. This fantasy story is going to be a few notches above and beyond what we are used to seeing in the genre, as seen by the magnificent and sort of trippy photography that is displayed in the teaser for the film. It’s almost like you’re playing a video game when you’re doing this.
In addition to all of the magical settings, the series will investigate magic and folklore, secret organizations, and many facets of witchcraft that will make the experience feel more mysterious.
Mayfair Witches: Production Details
The AMC production was developed by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, and it was produced by Mark Johnson, who was also the producer of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, both of which were successful original programs produced by AMC.

As a writer and producer, Ashford has been nominated for an Emmy. He is most known for his work on The Pacific and Masters of Sex, both of which he wrote and produced for HBO.
