What Did Rian Johnson Said About Star Wars Trilogy?

By recruiting Johnson to develop a new Star Wars picture trilogy prior to the debut of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in theaters in 2017, Lucasfilm displayed a significant amount of faith in the writer/director.

As Johnson’s involvement in the Knives Out film franchise continued to expand, the movie was ultimately shelved so that Johnson could focus on that endeavor.

Before Johnson provided confirmation that discussions on his Star Wars trilogy were still active, it appeared for a while as though the project had been completely abandoned. Despite this, there has yet to be a set schedule for when it is possible that it will really take place.

In light of the fact that Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy has not made significant headway in the past few years, the director might be inclined to shift his focus to the small screen.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the director of “The Last Jedi” was explicitly questioned about whether or not he would be willing to create a Star Wars television series. In response, he stated, “I would do a Star Wars anything.” Below is the full text of Johnson’s response:

Anything with a Star Wars theme is fair game for me. And if I had a concept that I was really thrilled about but that would work better as a show rather than a movie, I would make it into a show instead of a movie.

At the present, we are focusing our attention on Poker Face while simultaneously working on the next Benoit Blanc film. I continue to have chats with Kathy Kennedy and we frequently get together. Who could say? The making of The Last Jedi was the most incredible experience of my life, therefore I consider myself extremely fortunate.

Who Is Rian Johnson?

Rian Johnson is an American director and writer who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), which he also directed.

His work on “The Last Jedi” was recognized with a number of awards, including “Best Director” at the Empire Awards and “Best Writing” at the Saturn Awards. In addition, Johnson is working on a new Star Wars picture trilogy, which will be presented in a manner distinct from the ongoing episodic story.

Brick, an independent feature film that Johnson wrote and directed, marked the beginning of Johnson’s career in the film industry in 2005.

His first film was shown at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received positive reviews. Looper, a work of science fiction that Johnson went on to write and direct, had its debut in 2012. In addition, he directed three episodes of the television series Breaking Bad, one of which, “Ozymandias,” aired in 2013 and received widespread critical acclaim. 2014 marked the beginning of Johnson’s work on “The Last Jedi.”

Following the release of The Last Jedi, Johnson went on to write, direct, and produce the 2019 murder mystery film Knives Out. The film was entered into consideration for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The Reasons Why Fans Believe Rian Johnson Had Bad Star Wars’s Experience

It’s not hard to see why some people might think Johnson had a bad time throughout the development of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and after it was released.

After its predecessor, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, not only exceeded expectations but also was better regarded than the rest of the prequel trilogy, which was itself written and directed by franchise creator George Lucas, anticipation among audiences had been high.

Johnson also had a significant obstacle to overcome when leading the charge on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The writer and director had no answers to work off of for the questions posed by J.J. Abrams in the 2015 film, as Abrams himself never developed any answers to those questions. Johnson had to overcome this obstacle in order to lead the charge on Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Since there was no established plan for what was to occur in the sequel trilogy, Rian Johnson decided to toss the franchise rule book out the window and create his own spin on the Star Wars property with the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

This included removing the archetypal villain in the form of Andy Serkis’ Emperor Snoke, putting an end to Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma, and providing Luke with a path to redemption.

All of these decisions were met with intense criticism from fans of the Star Wars franchise, with many of them believing that it was an insult to everything that came before it and that it went against the mysteries that were portrayed in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In spite of the fact that this schism still exists to a large extent among the fans, it has, to some extent, become more amicable in the five years that have passed since it was released in theaters, with some fans now praising Johnson’s unconventional approach to the series in comparison to the uneven Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Plot Synopsis

The First Order launches an assault on a Resistance base right as the movie gets going. We are presented with a breathtaking space fight that would normally serve as the climax to one of these films. It’s wonderful!

Poe Dameron, the dreamy pilot man from the first movie, appears to be a little too hot-headed and impetuous to be a successful leader, despite the fact that he is responsible for bringing down an entire dreadnought ship. After he has joined up with the fleet that is attempting to escape, General Leia berates him and demotes him.

In another part of the galaxy, Rey is trying to persuade Luke Skywalker to join the resistance, but he is not interested in doing so at this time. After much persuasion on her part, he finally agrees to instruct her in the ways of the Force; however, as he discovers that she is sensitive to the evil side of the Force, he starts to have second thoughts.

While everything is going on, the First Order is striving to figure out how to monitor the Resistance’s escape fleet across hyperspace, which is making things incredibly difficult for the Resistance. Together, Finn and BB-8 will go on a secret operation to disable the tracking system used by the First Order.

Along on the voyage are new characters in the series named Rose Tico and DJ. Rose is a Resistance maintenance worker who harbors feelings for Finn. DJ is a musician (a dubious hacker they recruit along the way.) Unfortunately, nothing goes according to plan, and all of them end up being caught. As a result of the failure of the mission, the fleet of the Resistance begins to be eliminated ship by ship.

Kylo Ren, the leader of The First Order, is having trouble living up to the legacy left behind by Darth Vader, who was his childhood hero. On Luke’s island, he also creates a psychic connection with Rey, something neither of them completely comprehends at the time.

It is revealed through a flashback that Luke had a fleeting thought of murdering Kylo Ren because of the evil that he perceived in him, but he was unable to bring himself to carry out the act. We witness the identical scene from Luke and Kylo’s opposing points of view, which is a clever use of the Rashomon technique of narrative. This misunderstanding is what led to the gap between the instructor and the student, and ultimately contributed to the galaxy falling apart.

Rey is determined to convert Kylo to the good side of the Force despite the fact that he has committed sins that cannot be forgiven. She goes against Luke’s desires and enters the heart of enemy territory alone in order to have a confrontation with Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke, just as Luke did in “The Return of the Jedi.” A fierce brawl breaks out, but Rey is able to get away. In spite of all of his internal struggles, Kylo ultimately decides to devote himself entirely to the dark side.

A decisive battle takes place towards the end of the film on an unexplored planet covered in red salt (where some of the more visually arresting images from the trailers come from). There is no longer any chance of success… until Luke reappears from nowhere to save the day. The last members of the resistance make their escape knowing that their fight against the First Order would spark a widespread uprising against the First Order across the galaxy.
