What transpires when Mary receives a phone call from an old family acquaintance who is in need of assistance, but the situation turns out to be much more severe than they initially believed?
When the gang helps out a retired hunter on Episode 6 of Season 1 of The Winchesters, they find out that the hunter omitted some vital information, which turns out to be a significant part of what’s been going on throughout the season.
In the meantime, Mary is concerned about John’s aggressiveness when it comes to hunting, despite the fact that Lata may have the ideal solution for her.
The Winchesters (Season 1): Review Of Episode 6
- This week saw the debut of Mary’s Aunt Tracy, who was played by Audrey Marie Anderson, a veteran of both The CW and Arrow. Aunt Tracy was an excellent reflection of her niece, Mary. Tracy had a lifelong history as a hunter, but she was able to get away from the lifestyle for roughly ten years until being coerced back into it by the vengeful spirit of an old hunting companion.
- It was also established in Supernatural that John Winchester was one of the most accomplished hunters of his era, and some of the monster-slaying cleverness that he possessed is beginning to surface now that he is no longer the fresh face on the scene.
- Although his scheme to use the radio station and sound wave approach that the Akrida were using against them in order to eliminate them was rather ingenious, his quest seemed to be just as futile as Mary’s overall.
- The fact that John and Mary never really fulfill any of the goals they’ve set for themselves at this point in the series makes The Winchesters feel almost worthless at times. This is due to the fact that the knowledge that their tale together finishes on such a disastrous note. Having said all of that, Carlos and Lata’s future is still a mystery because neither of them appeared in any episodes of Supernatural.
- Lata had a very successful week because she was able to use the trauma that she had experienced in the past to talk the spiteful spirit out of being so angry. Lata has mentioned on several occasions that she is a pacifist, and episode 6 showed that this is because of her violent father. The Winchesters demonstrates that resorting to violence isn’t always necessary to find a solution to a problem.
- In point of fact, all of the conflict that took place in the episode was imbued with an underlying sense of emotion, marking a departure from the prevalent “violence for the sake of violence” concept that is regularly seen in the Stargate Continuum canon.
- This recurring theme can be found in a significant number of episodes of The Winchesters, which contributes to the overall increased complexity of the show.
- The events that took place this week brought the group’s already high tensions to an even higher level, and they continue to make it easier for fans, both old and new, to connect with the characters.
- In spite of the persistently ominous atmosphere that has been present throughout the first six episodes of the series, the show is still managing to convey an intriguing story after another.
- The Winchesters has a great deal of untapped potential, as seen by the fact that the sixth episode of the show was yet another successful addition to the series.
- There were a lot of layers to uncover and analyze in this episode. Next week’s midseason finale should leave viewers ready for more when the second half of season 1 begins airing the following week. This is because the writers have been able to avoid making any mistakes and have skillfully woven together all of the established plot lines.

The Winchesters (Season 1): Plot Synopsis
John and Mary Winchester, Sam and Dean’s parents, came first in the Winchester family tree. The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester (Rodger) met Mary Campbell (Donnelly) and put everything on the line to save not only their love but also the entire world.
The story is told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Ackles), who is the son of John Winchester (Rodger). After John returns from serving in Vietnam, he has a strange run-in that prompts him to embark on a new endeavor to investigate his father’s history.
During his travels, he meets a demon hunter by the name of Mary, who is also on the lookout for answers following the loss of her own father. Mary is 19 years old.
Together, they team up with a teenage hunter in training named Latika (played by Khurshid) and an easygoing hunter named Carlos (played by Fleites) in order to unearth the secrets that have been kept about both of their families.
Their investigation leads them to a rare book emporium, the proprietor of which, Ada (McKinney), has an interest in the occult and who may be able to provide them with the parts that are missing from their puzzle.
Despite the best efforts of John’s mother Millie (Kajlich) to protect her son from pursuing a dangerous life of demon hunting, John and Mary are both determined to work together to uphold their families’ legacies while beginning to form a family of their own.
The Winchesters Season 1: Cast Members
At New York Comic Con, it was revealed that Tom Welling will play the lead role of Sam Campbell in The Winchesters. Sam Campbell is Mary Campbell’s father and is a professional hunter.
In the new series, Rodger and Donnelly will play the primary roles of John and Mary, but they won’t be the only ones on screen; the cast list is now in the process of being filled up.
It appears as though Jensen Ackles will reprise his role as Dean in a narrator capacity and will not really be appearing on the new show, despite the fact that he is extensively involved in the production of the new show.
